Abstract

The goal of this article is to analyze the relationship of the consumer profile of cellular phones in Mexico with the habits of disposition of these at the end of their useful life, as a basis for the elaboration of strategies for collection of electronic waste. Currently, e-waste recycling is a business that has not been properly exploited due to high collection costs, but through an appropriate strategy such costs can be reduced. Through a survey, information is collected on the profile of mobile phone consumers in Mexico and their consumption and disposition habits, and the data are analyzed through a multiple step correlation analysis. It is observed that people despite having a high level of studies, do not have sufficient motivation for recycling, however, prefer to keep or give away the equipment that still works.
