Abstract

This study addresses the issue of how social innovation could be resumed to address the public health problems related to obesity and diabetes in Mexico; so it is essential from the identification of factors that influence the success or failure of the implementation of social innovation in a given context. Starting from research conducted in 2008 on social innovation in Latin America, was generated an instrument by a qualitative investigation 21 people between specialists (doctors, nutritionists, nurses), patients (patients with obesity and / or diabetes) , government officials and academics, using a convenience sampling; finding that prevails the impact of exogenous factors, specifically the networks facilitator and incentives factors. This demarcates a starting point for a future proposal for a Model of Social Innovation bearing on meeting the aforementioned health problems.
