Innovative leadership for the generation of the millennium
Keywords:
Innovative Leadership, Mindful Leadership, MindfulnessAbstract
The deliberate exercise of influence for the achievement of objectives is known as leadership; however, the current leadership competencies fail to satisfy the millennium generation that seeks to build innovative leadership. The research asks if this gap is capable of filling it with Mindful Leadership that exercises self-awareness, that is, the practice of Mindfulness. The research has a quantitative approach and an exploratory scope; its design is non-experimental, transectional and exploratory; applied an attitude measurement survey with Likert-type scaling and a non-probabilistic sample. It is found that the innovation of conscious leadership is relevant to the millennial generation because it teaches how to develop the inner reserves of the person, generating a capacity to selftransform itself and become a source of inspiration for others. It is concluded that leaders who develop mindfulness skills are less reactive and more purposeful, with less automatism and more deliberate choices; and that organizations with capacities to promote conscious leadership tend to be more productive, successful and happy.
